Insertion Magnetic Flow Meter

Insertion type (Plug-in ) electromagnetic flow transducer  and electromagnetic flow converter are combined to be  insertion type (plug-in) electromagnetic flow meter , which is used to measure the volume flow rate of various conducting liquid in the pipeline. Especially for those big pipe size , say DN200 and above , even to very big pipe size say DN1000 or DN2000 , it will be a much cost-effective measuring solution than inline flange connection type . As another type of magentic flow meter ,insertion type also offer customer with high accuracy and stable measuring results. And it is easy to maintance in daily operation.

Technical Characteristics:

The transducer has the following characteristics:

◆ No moving parts, simple structure and reliable operation

◆Plug-in structure allows convenient installation and dismounting without cutting off the water supply under the condition of low pressure. Therefore, it is suitable for all existing pipelines and convenient for instrument maintenance. ◆Measurement accuracy may not be affected by the variation of physical parameters such as temperature, pressure, density, viscosity, conductivity (as long as it is greater than 5µs/cm) etc.

◆The transducer almost has no pressure loss, leading to very low energy loss. ◆It has less manufacturing and installation cost than other electromagnetic flowmeters, so is particularly suitable for measuring the liquid from pipelines of medium or large diameter.

◆The advanced low frequency square wave excitation is used, resulting in stable zero point, good capacity of resisting disturbance, and reliable operation.

◆Large measurement range. The pipeline full scale flow rate can be randomly set within the range from 1m/s to 10m/s. The output signal and flow have a linear relation.

◆The flowmeter (except battery-powered one) has two kinds of current output: 0~10mA

◆DC and 4~20mA

◆DC and 1~5kHz frequency output.

With the above advantages, the flowmeter (transducer) has been widely used for conducting liquid measurement and production automatic control in different industries including chemical engineering, chemical fiber, metallurgy, chemical fertilizer, paper making, water supply and drainage, wastewater treatment and agricultural irrigation.

Main Structures :

It is mainly constituted of measuring head (or measuring tube), excitation system, insertion pole, connecting box, mounting base, sealing and locating device etc. Measuring head (or measuring tube): it is used to measure the flow rate of the fluid. It is made from insulating materials and is equipped with a pair of electrodes. Apart from the head or tube inwall, other parts are insulated from the measured fluid. Excitation system: it is constituted of excitation coils and an iron core and is used to produce a magnetic field. It is sealed in and also insulated from the insertion pole.

Insertion pole: It is made of stainless steel. The measuring head is fixed inside the insertion pole. The excitation lead and electrode lead get through the insertion pole, are sealed with the measured medium and connected to the connecting box. A directional indicating arm is welded to the insertion pole in order to ensure that magnetic field, flow rate and electrode wire are perpendicular to each other during installation, which conforms to Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. Connecting box: It is above the transducer. The amphenol connector inside the connecting box is used to connect the transducer and transverter. Mounting base: It is welded to the measured pipeline and is used to install the part that connects the ball valve and transducer. Sealing device: it is composed of compression thread base, gland nut, rubber washer and positioning screw. It is used to seal the electromagnetic transducer so as to enable it to bear some operating pressure.

Maintance :

The transducer generally does not require scheduled maintenance. However, if the electrode head and measuring head (tube) are vulnerable to scale and dirt because of the measured medium, periodic cleaning is necessary. The cleaning period depends on the scale rate. During cleaning the electrode and measuring head (tube), do not damage the insulating material or electrode.
